This that and the other thing. Though there might be more of this than that. And little of the other things. Maybe.

World Water Day

Every year, March 22 is World Water Day, as designated by the United Nations in December 1992 (A/RES/47/193 ). The agenda was passed due to 20% of the Earth's population (1 billion people) not having access to clean, drinkable water.

For all those who are calendar challenged tomorrow is World Water Day 2006. If all you can do is think about the people who don't have clean water that's better than you would have done. Maybe next year you'll be able to contribute more.
Comments:
I've read that we should worry less about an energy crisis and more about the pending clean water crisis. Ultimately, we can find other fuel sources, but it's impossible to live without water. Of course, the two are wrapped up in each other—you need water to create electricity, and you need energy to pump water into a lot of places.

It's possible that desert resorts like Las Vegas will eventually disappear unless new water sources or energy systems are found. There's no way the surrounding environment can support that population and infrastructure, and the amount of water and energy spent in that city is insane. Whatever will those CSI people do?
