This that and the other thing. Though there might be more of this than that. And little of the other things. Maybe.

Honey Bear
As most of you have noticed and some have pointed out, I haven't been posting as often. And what I have posted isn't up to the squirrelly standards.
See, every year at this time, I am reminded of something that happened five years ago. It was five years on Tuesday (7/29) actually. Each year seems to bring a different perspective to my memories and subsequently varying strengths of reaction. The memories are stronger this year. Refer to the event on June 3rd if you want to know why. And no it's not hockey related.
Don't fret, my pretties, squirrelly posts will return. Eventually.

Princess Chunk
Princess Chunk is a stray cat in NJ that weighs 44 pounds. Which, amazingly, is not the world record for fattest cat (there was a 46lb 15oz cat in Australia in the 1980s). If she's not claimed by her owners, she goes up for adoption Saturday.
The video I had posted is on this page.

Dream Has An 'E'
I've been slack with my posting lately. I know. Been busy. I haven't even turned my laptop on the last two days. Yes, I'm posting from work. Shhhhh.
I've been having some squirrelly dreams lately. Snakes, Bono, The Edge, words with the letter 'e' in them. Those are all examples of dream themes. Different dreams too. Seriously bizarre. Well, not the ones with The Edge :)
I'm sure having The Cat run across me (leaving bruises) in the middle of the night doesn't help in fostering non-squirrelly dreams. At least I scared her the other night as much as she scared me. She jumped up and landed on my leg, waking me up and causing me to jerk my leg. She jumped at the leg jerk and went skittering across the floor. I was too groggy & startled to laugh then. I did laugh my butt off in the morning tho.

Earth Shattering Kaboom
I've, apparently, lost a little bit more of my mind. I've had cartoons in my head the last day or two. Marvin the Martian and now Alvin, Simon and Theodore (not the NHL goalie). I had the The Chipmunks' Christmas song in my head ALL DAY yesterday. Kept finding myself humming about a stupid hula hoop. Bah!
Even talking hockey didn't help. So, obviously, I've lost more of my mind. Or B has found a way to send subliminal messages in an email. Frankly, it wouldn't surprise me if he had. And since Marvin was in the mix, he probably hooked up with T to do it.
Unrelatedly
I'm having an allergic to reaction to something. No clue what. But it's really starting to annoy. I'd really rather grow out of allergies, not into them. Ah well. Maybe I'll lose more of my mind from incessant cartoon singing and no longer care.
Happy Fourth, Everyone!

Risky Business
The expression on Matt's face indicates he has a big concern. Paper cuts. I don't blame him. Those things hurt like the dickens. Just look at how gingerly he's holding the paper. And his eyes! They're just shouting at his mom and dad what are you trying to do to me?? What did I do to you? Don't you love me?? Poor little guy.

Farewell, Erik Cole
The Canes traded Erik Cole. To Edmonton. I can't wrap my brain around it. Yes, he's not been as consistent since his broken neck (damn you orpik!), but there are other players who are far worse than he. Can't we get rid of them and keep Cole????
There are two defensemen I would not be sad to see leave. And since Wesley retired and Hedican is leaving, it shouldn't be too hard to figure out the two I'm thinking about. There's also a concussed center I think would benefit from sometime recovering. Elsewhere.
At least we penned a deal with Brookbank and Bayda. I'm neutral about Conboy. Hopefully we can get a multi-year deal with Eric Staal soon. And with Cole gone, we should have more money to dangle. I mean, Pitkanen can't cost all that much. Right?
Yes, today was all about hockey. What of it?

The Lorax Project
The Lorax Project is a partnership between Conservation International and Dr. Seuss Enterprises. The info is rather sketchy and I never did see the "media blitz" that Random House, Dr. Seuss Ent., & CI were supposedly going to do during April for Earth Day awareness. Supposedly funds are donated to environmental causes when ..I have no idea. I'm guessing it's when someone donates funds via the project. Perhaps my skepticism stems from my sadness that Dr. Seuss Enterprises sold out to Hollywood. Such a disgrace.
Anyway, after much googling, I've determined that you can go directly to The Lorax Project by clicking here or by clicking here. As far as I can tell it's the same website at two different addresses. That seems silly to me, but, maybe they get a better deal that way? Or perhaps the donations made via the .org site are tax deductible?
Some more references to The Lorax Project can be found at:
Seussville
Sylvania
USA Today Article
My search of The Lorax Project stemmed from a gift that my folks got for me. It's a plush of The Lorax. Super cute, very soft and fuzzy. Although the plush has orange antenna looking things for eyebrows. Which, after careful study of the book, he does not actually have. This is good since it means my memory was accurate.
And his hands & arms are rather hefty. Which, if you've read the book, you know is squirrelly. The Lorax has scrawny little arms. But that's okay. I'm going to pretend it means he's been lifting weights in order to take down the Oncelers of the world. Yeah, that's gotta be it.
I went to the Manhattan Toy (makers of my Lorax plush) website but they don't have The Lorax listed. They do have a variety of other Dr. Seuss plushes though.
