This that and the other thing. Though there might be more of this than that. And little of the other things. Maybe.

I was at a medical type facility last week. Not a doctor's office or a hospital, more like a Quick Care (doc in a box) type place. Where you go to pee in a cup for a drug test for work, worker's comp claim checkups, physicals, etc. Anyway, I had just gone in to the back, was taking my coat off when I look down the hallway and see something moving. I cock my head & watch a little longer just to be sure I wasn't seeing things (I had just been sick, after all).

It was a baby mouse. The nurse/technician is talking to me and I just look at her and then look down the hall and point. She looks and shrieks and runs behind the counter, telling the others. The mouse was a good 15-20 feet away and a baby, yet she is not the only nurse/tech freaking. It was rather amusing to see these women having a panic attack. One gets on the phone to call someone to come handle the situation. All work had stopped once I pointed out Mousey's existence.

I felt bad for Mousey. He was just stuttering around, kinda tipping over as he tried to walk. I'm pretty sure he had eaten some poison. Then when I hear the employees talking about how they've seen other mice and maintenance had laid traps, I was even more certain. Poor little Mousey.

And yes, I'm aware I had a slightly different viewpoint when a mouse was in my house earlier this year. I'm pretty sure I'd have had a different reaction if Mousey had been in my house this time too. However he was at a place that I likely won't be at again for another year - if at all. So I could afford to have a more sympathetic outlook.

I saw National Treasure Book of Secrets tonight. I love the puzzle/intrigue/conspiracy movies. I think I like the first one better. I'm not entirely certain tho, I'll have to watch them both again to be sure. Also, I think there was an allusion to another sequel - I hope so!

2007
Lot of changes happened this year. Some good, some otherwise. Not sure what 2008 has in store, but I hope for more good, less bad for everyone I care about. Well, I don't wish ill on anyone really.. Part of that whole karma/'an it harm none, do as ye well'/golden rule thing.

Useless People Go Home

When someone is sick (fever, vomiting, light headed, body aches, etc.) and can still be more productive at work than you - you're useless. Go home or learn how to work. Idiots.

Also - there is no need to wait in line for hours just to get inside a store where you will wait in line to pay for items you do not need. Seriously. Catch a clue folks. Or, better yet, come see me and let me breathe on you and shake your hand. Perhaps being sick will reboot the priorities in your life. Fancy dishes, flatware, pillows, rugs, etc. just aren't that necessary - regardless of the sale.

Okay, I'm off my soapbox for now and heading back to bed. Cranky people of the world unite! After I get some more sleep, that is ;)

Return of Sneecouphlegmghze

His scout, Captain Sore Throat, showed up Friday night. Apparently he found a way past my defenses as the entire military force of Lord Germ Commander Sneecouphlegmghze has taken up residence. Stupid germs.

I think I spent a total of three hours out of bed, maybe 3.5, today. Sadly I have to work tomorrow. Thankfully I have Tuesday off. I'm hoping to be in better shape by Wednesday, when the madness at work begins.

Yes, I'm actually writing this entry from my bed. Be happy that you're getting one at all. And, B, before you start hounding me, I am well aware that this entry lacks wit. So stuff it and bring me some chicken noodle soup and some hot green ginger tea. :)

Burnt Out Ends Of Smoky Days

Driving home from work tonight I remembered something from my trip last weekend that I wanted to write about. Of course, I've forgotten (again). I'm pretty sure it wasn't the fact that I saw 15+ police cars in NC - all going east (I was going west) - on my way to TN. While surprising and rather odd, it's not really a stand alone blog entry...

I don't think it was a clarification on the 97 U2 songs comment. I skipped at least four songs (all BTBS) and played a couple more than once. Again not really a stand alone blog post.

I think it was something humorous but I just don't recall. So maybe yall can just chuckle amongst yourselves and pretend like I said something witty. That might work. Whatcha think?

Where For Art Thou Hockey Seats?

I got home around 11.30 last night from work and didn't feel like turning the puter on to post something. This morning I was running late (thanks to my lovely & oh so divine snooze button) and didn't turn the puter on before going to work. Hence no post for yall to read Monday morning/afternoon.

I went to the Canes vs Leafs game tonight but didn't stay. We didn't have tickets and the only ones available together where in the nosebleeds. Which, had I known the game wasn't televised, would've been fine. Mostly. I'm usually fine anywhere in the arena as long as I get to see the game. However the person I was with made the, "I won't be able to see anything" comment and I opted to leave. Didn't want to hear any further commentary on not being able to see the game. Even tho we would've gotten the tix half price due to a buy one get one free coupon. Ah well.

Ended up watching the Bruins vs Senators game on VS at a restaurant. Sadly the Bruins lost. But the Canes won in OT!!! WOOOHOOOOOOO

More Hockey
Get plenty of rest and drink lots of fluids, Rod (& Andrew). Chad & David, hope yall are okay and back on the ice soon!! Cory - you are amazing! Hope your mind boggling healing skills are shared by the others!

When the Night Takes A Deep Breath

Trip was good. Put numerous faces to names and stories I had heard of/about for the last three years. Laughed a lot. Drive there was just over eight hours, drive back was 97 U2 songs (about 7.5 hours). Hit rush hour going and snow in the mountains returning. Obviously the snow was less of a driving factor than the traffic.

For the folks still thinking 97 U2 songs??? Yes, that is right. 97. I put the ipod on my U2 only playlist & hit shuffle. I currently have about 500 U2 songs :) And no, that is nowhere near enough.

Over the River(s) and Through the Woods (Mountains)

Road trip starts today. Woo! And umm, that's all I've got. Aren't yall glad that you took the time to stop by here today? ;)

Hockey
Canes vs Calgary tonight. I hope the Canes can bring it as a Team. Maybe use Walker's one game suspension to egg them on. They need something.

Amusing link for yall to enjoy today. Have your sound on and explore the pages - After the narration is done. Thanks t

The bruises on my arms are getting darker, not fading. Could barely seem them at all yesterday (had a floor reset at work on Monday night - hence bruises) but as today went on, they became more visible. They're (thankfully) not obnoxious. I hope they stay that way, else TTTN might have a word or two with me this weekend.

Hockey
*cry* my poor Canes.

Drought
Chance for some light rain Thursday and more rain this weekend. Yay! We've got about 96 days worth of drinking water right now.. Bring on the rain! Here's a picture of Falls Lake in October, it's not any fuller now than it was then. Raleigh will likely go to Stage 2 water restrictions next week, is talking about creating Stage 3 restrictions and is even looking to extract water from lake sediment to build up its water supply. This is the worst drought in North Carolina's recorded history.

May The Merry Bells Keep Ringing...

I've had that song in my head for days now. Mostly because I hear it multiple times while at work. Amazingly enough, I'm still rather fond of it.

I spent the day sleeping, reading, sleeping, emailing, sleeping, grocery shopping and did I mention sleeping? Trying to catch up from last week. Also trying to prevent a bug from making me sick before this weekend. Lots of fluids, lots of sleep.

As I'm a bit obsessed with sleep at the moment, that's what I'm going to go do. And I'm going to fudge the posting time by 20 minutes. I'm such a rebel.

I saved over $20 at the grocery store tonight.

So sorry, b.

May Your Days, May Your Days, May Your Days...

I watched 1.5 movies today. Tho both were on TV so, with all the commercials and editing, I didn't exactly see all of the movie that I did watch beginning to end. If you think about it a bit, that last sentence really will make sense. Honest. :)

Anyway, I watched "all" of White Christmas (I just adore Bing Crosby's singing) and the last half of Saved! (which cracks me up every time I see it). Pretty crazy, right? I actually sat in front of the TV long enough to watch them. Granted I'll have to watch my DVD of White Christmas to see the half that was cut to make it fit into its time slot. Idiots.

So yeah, that's it for today's post. Mostly I'm just writing this so T won't start calling me a slacker. Again. :)

Yeah, Yeah, Yeah, I Hear Ya, T...

Coming home from work 11.30 Friday night, I see three fire trucks, three ambulances and four police cars. The highway was down to one lane (usually four in that area). One or two of the fire trucks had rigged up some huge lights, making it look like daylight. Thankfully I was going the other direction and was not impacted by the accident scene, other than onlooker delay (by me).

Saturday morning, I go through the area and there is a deer on the side of the road. And skid marks. I'm guessing a car hit the deer and flipped over or hit other cars. Not certain though as I haven't watched the news in.. I don't know how long.

Saturday night I was coming home from work (about 11.30ish) and as I'm driving down my street, I see flashing lights. The street lights are off and the flashing lights are from an electric company truck and a fire truck. Apparently a transformer blew across the street, causing a fire. The power had been flickering, dimming, for the last month or so. Anyway, according to the neighbors, power went out around 10.30 or so. It came back on at 01.26 and went back out. Came on for good at 06.22. I know the times because of the smoke detector beeping & the heat kicking on.

Sunday night (yes, I was driving home from work but it was after dinner and more like 8.30) I drive by yet another incident. I couldn't tell you where or when or what. I only remember thinking "Huh, well I guess that's three". My brain (& body) are too tired to remember anything else.

Hopefully my drive home from work today will be less eventful.

Hockey
Yay Canes for beating the Canadiens!!! Boo Hiss to the Red Wings.

Ahhhhhhh Micro-Suede!

Completely forgot to post something earlier. The days have been going by so fast, I lose track.

Went out earlier today with M and her mom. They bought a Chofa and a chair. I talked them into the Espresso color :) Mmmmm coffee. Actually my advice was possibly only minorly important, as compared to the laminate floor color, wall & trim color. Furniture really should match with the major players (floors, walls, trim, etc.) in the room.

Hockey
Thanks b for the rumor report about Mark Recchi. I hope it's true!!

So The Drama!!

I remembered what it was I was going to post about. It's a very traumatic event that recently happened to me. I lost one of my toe rings! *sob* *cry* *wail* And I can't find my spare one either *sniffle*

I think it's obvious why I blocked that from my memory. I wasn't ready to deal with the loss.

Hockey
Way to go Canes!!! Second shut out this season for Cam! 4-0 Canes over Rangers.

I think I need some new pix of JT *ahem*

When You Look, You Look Through Me...

I hope yall didn't think I'd be recovered from my NaNoing already. Maybe by the end of the week.

I did have a bright idea for today's entry while talking to my mom on the phone. That was five hours ago and I have since forgotten. So instead, I'll recount two random comments said to/about me in the last couple days

I was told that I looked about 10 years younger than my actual age today. Granted she continued her comment with "but you can't be THAT OLD!! You don't have any gray hair!!!!" so the compliment glow faded fast.

I was hosting a NaNo Write-In last week at a bookstore. A stranger stopped at our table, apologized for interrupting us (we were just talking at the time) to tell me that should I ever want to stop writing, I should consider being a stand up comic because I'm 'hilarious'. She looked at the two guys I was with and said, "Right? Don't you think she's hilarious? So funny!" I stammer out a thank you before she leaves. How's that for random? Funny thing about it, one of the guys says, "I guess that means we're not" to the other guy. We all bust out laughing over that one. :)

Hockey
As if I didn't already despise lindy and the cretin sabres enough already!!! Argh!!
